Blossoms and small panels of pattern are scattered across a rust-brown field inside a beige floral border. It brings a soft, garden-like feel to the floor. It is a chic transitional 8x10 area rug in brown and beige.
This handmade wool rug is one of a kind, hand knotted from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool in a mix of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The vegetable dyes, extracted from local plants, give the brown field and the beige border their depth, with red and blue used for the detail work. The brown field may show an abrash, a gentle change of shade within one color. It is normal in handmade rugs, because hand-spun wool takes natural dye a little differently from batch to batch. The curves of the flowers and vines are drawn knot by knot, which keeps their outlines sharp. The pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried for a natural sheen across the full 8'1'' x 9'10''. The finished pile is dense and even, soft to walk on, and resilient enough to recover from furniture and daily use. Like all hand knotted wool, the pile has a nap, so the brown tones shift slightly as you walk around the rug and as the light changes.
Use it as a living room rug, under a dining table, or in a spacious bedroom. The rich brown and beige tones, with touches of red and blue, give an eclectic or boho chic room its focal point, and they add warmth to modern farmhouse and industrial loft spaces. The floral pattern leans transitional and suits cottage and grandmillennial rooms too.
