An oval garland of blue-green leaves frames small scattered sprigs on a tan field. The medallion design gives the room a natural focal point. It is an eclectic transitional 6x9 area rug in tan and green.
This one-of-a-kind, handmade wool rug is hand knotted from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool, a blend of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The vegetable dyes, extracted from local plants, color the tan field and the green border, with rust and gray in the details. Look for the abrash, a gentle shift in shade within a single color. It tends to show most in larger areas of one color, such as the tan field here, and it happens because hand-spun wool takes natural dye a little differently from batch to batch. Fine hand knotting keeps each medallion sharp against the field. After knotting, the pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried, which gives this 6x9 rug its natural sheen. The result is a dense, even wool pile that feels soft underfoot, springs back under furniture, and stands up to everyday foot traffic. Because the pile lies in one direction, the tan field looks a little deeper from one end of the rug and lighter from the other.
It anchors a living room seating group, a bedroom, or a dining room. The soft tan and green palette, with touches of rust and gray, is a natural fit for Scandinavian, Japandi, and minimalist rooms, where texture and quiet color do the work. The medallion design suits transitional rooms and symmetrical furniture layouts.
