A fine pattern of small blossoms covers a tan field inside a looping brown-accented border. It brings a soft, garden-like feel to the floor. This eclectic transitional 4x6 area rug comes in tan and brown.
This handmade wool rug is one of a kind, hand knotted from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool in a mix of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The vegetable dyes, extracted from local plants, give the tan field and the brown border their depth, with green and pink used for the detail work. The tan field may show an abrash, a gentle change of shade within one color. It is normal in handmade rugs, because hand-spun wool takes natural dye a little differently from batch to batch. Fine hand knotting keeps the small blossoms and curving vines crisp. The pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried for a natural sheen across the full 4'2'' x 5'10''. The finished pile is dense and even, soft to walk on, and resilient enough to recover from furniture and daily use. Like all hand knotted wool, the pile has a nap, so the tan tones shift slightly as you walk around the rug and as the light changes.
It is a good fit for an entryway, a bedroom, a kitchen, or a spot in front of a favorite chair. The calm tan and brown tones, with touches of green and pink, work in Scandinavian and modern farmhouse rooms, and give a quiet-luxury feel under neutral upholstery. The flowers soften clean-lined, modern furniture.
