A honeycomb trellis filled with tan flower sprays covers a soft blue field inside a beige key-pattern border. The regular repeat gives the rug a tailored, orderly feel. This chic transitional 8x10 area rug comes in blue and beige.
Hand knotted and one of a kind, this wool rug is made from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool, a blend of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The blue of the field and the beige of the border come from vegetable dyes extracted from local plants, and slate blue and gray pick out the smaller motifs. You may notice an abrash in the blue field, a soft shift in shade within a single color. It comes from hand-spun wool taking natural dye slightly differently from batch to batch, and it is one of the signs of a true handmade rug. Fine hand knotting keeps the small trellis even across the whole field. The pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried for a natural sheen across the full 7'11'' x 9'10''. What you get is a dense wool pile with a soft hand, low enough to sit neatly under chairs and doors and sturdy enough for busy rooms. Like all hand knotted wool, the pile has a nap, so the blue tones shift slightly as you walk around the rug and as the light changes.
Use it as a living room rug, under a dining table, or in a spacious bedroom. The blue and beige tones, with touches of slate blue and gray, work in contemporary, coastal, and mid-century modern interiors, and they pair easily with gray, white, and natural wood. The small-scale pattern layers well with bolder fabrics and prints.
